Scope 1 GHG Emissions Reductions Projects

2015 to Current
Existing GHG Emissions Reductions: Assisted companies with assessment and prioritization of current and forecast GHG emissions (short-term, medium-term, and long-term), for each timeframe compiled high-level emission reduction strategies from stakeholders, conducted cost to benefit analysis (financial benefit in terms of carbon pricing), and developed a road map for emissions reductions.
Pre-Project GHG Evaluation for New Projects: Assisted companies with developing and implementation of a process for assessment of avoided emissions – conducted potential GHG emissions evaluation from new proposed projects, compiled alternative technologies for emissions reductions, provided options with cost to benefit (financial benefit in terms of carbon pricing) for decision-makers.
Project-level GHG Emissions Reductions Planning and Implementation: Developed project-level sustainability plans to incorporate emission-reductions at the project level. Assessed GHG and air quality emissions from each task and provided alternatives to reduce overall GHG emissions. Provided KPIs and tools for PM to track performance at project-level.

Major Airline, United States
Assisted a major airline with corporate sustainability initiatives to reduce GHG emissions for over 8,000 pieces of ground support equipment (GSE) at SFO, LAX, and a number of smaller airports throughout California. Assisted with data collection, management, and sustainability evaluation. Developed a modeling process that allowed GSE fleet comparisons for GHG emissions, developed a database for inventories; and assisted in development of corporate environmental and sustainability policies.

Confidential Missile Manufacturing and Development Facility, Southern CA
Client’s Manufacturing and Development Center (MDC) conducts activities related to missile guidance system research and development. The purpose of this project was to develop a carbon footprint for the baseline and a GHG emissions management and reduction plan. For the carbon footprint, considered emissions from both direct sources (including stationary combustion, processes, and fugitive sources) and indirect sources (including energy sources (electricity and heat), refrigeration (air conditioners), and employee commute and business travel).
Scope 1 Fluorinated GHG Emissions Reductions Projects
Confidential Oil and Gas Clients, California
Retained by several upstream oil & gas producers in California to assist in compiling and reporting SF6 and GIS equipment inventory for California Air Resources Board (CARB). Developed GIS equipment inventory, developed and documented business processes, developed appropriate controls through value stream mapping, and conducted annual reporting. Developing annual strategies for breaker and SF, acquisitions and divestitures for emission rate compliance. Assisted with developing SF, emissions reduction plans over multiple years including evaluation of use of alternative non-GHG gases.

Confidential Chemical Manufacturer, United States
A chemical manufacturer initiated an energy program to reduce energy use in their manufacturing processes. Yasmeen and team were hired to conduct energy audits for their largest chemical manufacturing facilities to identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) with payback periods between O and 4 years. We conducted energy audits at 8 chemical manufacturing facilities and identified an average of 10 ECMs per facility with payback periods between 2 months and 3.5 years. As a result of Yasmeen and team’s detailed feasibility analyses and technical guidance, the company was able to implement 6 ECMs within 3 months of the audit and realize immediate energy savings.

Scope 3 Supply Chain GHG Emissions Reductions Projects
Confidential Client – Clothing Manufacturer
Currently working with a confidential global clothing manufacturing company to meet their ambitious carbon neutrality goals. The company’s Scope 3 supply chain emissions represent their largest emissions. Conduct Scope 3 carbon emissions and energy use audits at key supplier facilities in Asia and Mexico, create a baseline of energy use and carbon emissions, identify emissions reduction opportunities, costs, and local financing mechanisms at each facility. Develop carbon reduction roadmaps for each facility including goals/targets for reductions. Evaluation of carbon offsetting and insetting for supply chain emissions.
Scope 3 Product Avoided Emissions Assessment
Confidential Client – Compressed Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution Supplier in US and Canada
2021
Retained by a CNG supplier to develop GHG emissions baseline for their 20+ facilities in US and Canada. The emissions baseline would follow the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) protocol for GHG reporting. Assisted the company in assessing their product’s avoided emissions in comparison to comparable products available in the marketplace. Methods used included GREET Model comparisons for various comparable products.
Scope 3 Research and Development Products Sustainability and GHG Claims Assessment
Confidential Client – Global Instruments and Equipment Manufacturer
2020
Retained to assess corporate framework and processes for making over 50,000 research products’ ESG/sustainability/GHG claims. Reviewed the company’s adopted ESG qualification criteria against the UN SDGS, MCSI, ISS, VIGEO, Sustainalytics, GRI, and ISO indices. Evaluated the degree of alignment using five fundamental principles of product sustainability: reliability, relevance, clarity, transparency, and accessibility. Evaluated company’s ESG benefits determination process by comparing to the industry best practices.
